09 — FAQ

Before you apply.

Who can apply?

Developers, founders, product builders and ecosystem contributors in Kenya and East Africa. Showcase applications need a working product on Solana; attendee applications need a genuine interest in building.

Do I need an incorporated company?

No. Hackathon projects, open-source work, solo developers and university teams are all eligible — as long as something real has been built.

What does “demo, not pitch” mean?

You get five minutes to show the product working: connect the wallet, execute the trade, make the payment, deploy the program. Slides can support the demo, but they never replace it.

Can I attend without showcasing?

Yes. Most of the room will be builders who are not on stage. Apply to attend and tell us what you are building or want to build.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no ticket fee for accepted applicants.

Will my data be public?

No, unless you opt in to the public Builder Directory. The State of Solana Kenya report only uses aggregated figures for anyone who has not given consent to be named.

When will I hear back?

Organisers review every application after applications close on 4 Nov 2026. You will get a decision by email on 5 Nov 2026.

Is this an official Solana Foundation event?

No. Solana Build Kenya is a community-led initiative. It is not organised or endorsed by the Solana Foundation.
